- Wash extensions properly.
You’ve heard us say that caring for your raw Indian natural hair can be likened to caring for your own hair. But we would also strongly recommend investing in the products that your professional salon technician recommends. Whether you choose sewn-in, clip-in, tape-in or microlink wefts, alongside each of these comes different requirements to make sure that the attachment remains secure.
This means choosing products that will not only maintain the condition of your extensions but will also allow your hair to grow naturally. And that generally entails avoiding products with ingredients like sulfates and alcohol. These ingredients are known to strip your hair of its natural oils leaving your extensions dry and more susceptible to matting. Once you have the right products, you can wash your hair worry-free of what it may do to your locks.
While it is tempting to leave your extensions on after a busy day, or leaving it on the dresser as soon as you enter the room, keep in mind that a short moment can make all the difference to how long your sets last.
When putting away your clip-in extensions, always make sure that the clips are shut. And before storing them, it is always recommended that you brush them. You also have to store them in a cool and dry place, preferably away from direct sunlight since your extensions do not have a natural hydration source and direct sunlight can suck out whatever moisture is in there and leave it dry.
